About: OB Peacock Cichlids 

OB Peacock Cichlids are popular man-made hybrids genetically engineered by crossing two different species of fish from Lake Malawi In Africa−a male Aulonocara with an OB female mbuna, at least at first.   

The letters 'OB' stand for Orange Blotch, in reference to the orange and purple markings found on the fish that are not present in any naturally occurring Aulocara species. Now, there are several OB Peacock strain variations in development, a result of the intense popularity this fish has found in the hearts and tanks of aquarium keepers across the globe.
